إِلى واحد الدُنيا أَبي العَزم راغبِ

مَددت يَدي أَشكو صُروف النَوائبِ

مَددت يَدي أَشكو صُروف النَوائبِ

To the world's peerless one, Abu al-Azm Raghib,

To the One in charge of the world, my determined father

I stretched out my hand, lamenting the vicissitudes of misfortune.

I extended my hand complaining of the turns of misfortune

وَأَمَّلت مِنهُ نَظرةً في قَضيةٍ

وَأَمَّلت مِنهُ نَظرةً في قَضيةٍ

بِها يَنجلي عَني سَحاب الغَياهب

بِها يَنجلي عَني سَحاب الغَياهب

And I hoped for his consideration of a matter,

And I hoped for a glance from Him regarding a matter

Through which the clouds of deep darkness would lift from me.

Through which the clouds of misgivings clear from my eye
