The world adorned itself for the Kaaba of his age,

The world adorned itself for the Kaaba of its era

and a sun of chastity whose veil is never lifted.

And the sun of serenity whose veil cannot be removed

فَزادَ الخديوي في التَهاني بَشاشةً

فَزادَ الخديوي في التَهاني بَشاشةً

عَلى الناس يُتلى بِالسُرور كتابها

عَلى الناس يُتلى بِالسُرور كتابها

So the Khedive grew more cheerful amid the congratulations;

So the Khedive increased joyfulness in congratulations

her letter is read aloud to the people with joy.

Upon the people is recited the book of his happiness

وَمُذ جاءَت العليا تُبشر بِاللقا

وَمُذ جاءَت العليا تُبشر بِاللقا

وَتخبر أَن الشَمس آن إيابها

وَتخبر أَن الشَمس آن إيابها

And when al-ʿUlyā came bearing glad tidings of reunion,

And since the Highness brought good news of the meeting

and reporting that the sun's return was at hand,

And told that the sun is coming back

وَأنَّ أَساطيل السَعادة أَقبَلَت

وَأنَّ أَساطيل السَعادة أَقبَلَت

وَبِالوَطن المَألوف حلّ ركابها

وَبِالوَطن المَألوف حلّ ركابها

and that the fleets of happiness had arrived,

And that the fleets of felicity approached

and her caravan had alighted in the familiar homeland,

And with the beloved homeland landed their riders

ترنم مَجدي بِالقَوافي مُهنئاً

بِعودتها في مصر عز جَنابها

Majdi sang in rhymed verse, offering congratulations
