قُلتI said لَماwhen بَداappeared سميُّnamesake of الشَفيعِthe Intercessor
قُلت لَما بَدا سميُّ الشَفيعِ
بِمُحيّاًwith a face كَالبَدرlike the full moon عِندَat الطُلوعِthe rising
بِمُحيّاً كَالبَدر عِندَ الطُلوعِ
I said, when the Intercessor’s namesake appeared,
When the advocate's graceful visage appeared
With a face like the full moon at its rising:
With a face like the full moon rising
جاءَناcame to us السَعدgood fortune وَالهَناand joy قالhe said أَرّخrecord the date
جاءَنا السَعد وَالهَنا قال أَرّخ
لاحَshone forth بَدرfull moon التَمامfullness نصفmiddle of رَبيعRabiʿ
لاحَ بَدر التَمام نصف رَبيع
“Good fortune and joy have come to us.” He said, “Record the date:
Good fortune came to us and he said "Record
The full moon shone forth in mid-Rabiʿ.”
