أحبكI love you وانتفضَand stirred awake المشرقُthe East
“I love you,” I said; the sky cleared. Say:
I love you, I said in the clear morning air
“I love you”—and the East stirred awake.
I love you, and the east was stirred

وددتُI wished لوَif only أنيthat I بهin it أغرقdrown
I clothed the letters in dewy resonance;
I clothed the letters in a ringing, dewy melody
I wished that I might drown in it.
I wished I could drown in it

Upon the color sways your pride;
In your color sighs a longing, a confusion
And in the light a song breathes fragrance.
And in the light a fragrant song

And fragrance wished that it might settle
If only my perfume could settle
Upon your palms and be breathed in.
On your hands and be inhaled
صحاcleared الجوُthe sky أينَwhere جنونُthe madness الشتاءof winter
المغيرthe marauder ومطلعُهُand its onset المطبقall-enveloping
The sky cleared—where is the madness of winter,
The morning is clear, where is the madness of winter
The marauder, and its all-enveloping onset?
Changing and its gloomy beginning
وأينَand where الكآباتُthe sorrows أينَwhere الغيومُthe clouds
صحاcleared الجوُthe sky وانتشرَand spread الأزرقthe blue
And where are the sorrows? Where are the clouds?
Where are the sorrows, where are the clouds
The sky cleared, and blue spread.
The morning is clear and the blue spreads
