Ah, what a wonder at one so long-forbearing,
So, how astonishing is one so patient,
while youth’s season is still at its dawn—
while youth is still at its dawn.

ينتهي منها إليها أربي
when suddenly the earth of your morrow engulfs me,
Then, when earth engulfs me tomorrow,
my longing, from it back to it, finds its end.
my longing will end in the earth from which it came.
وأرانيand I see myself فيin فمthe mouth of الزهرthe blossoms شذاًfragrance
وأراني في فم الزهر شذاً
وشذاًand fragrance فيin قطركyour rain المنسكبpouring
وشذاً في قطرك المنسكب
And I see myself, in the blossoms’ mouths, as your fragrance,
And I see myself as fragrance in the mouth of the blossoms,
and your fragrance in your cascading rain.
and as fragrance in your pouring rain.
