تَزَلزَلَتquaked الأَرضُthe earth زِلزالَهاits quake
تَزَلزَلَت الأَرضُ زِلزالَها
فَقالواso they said بِأَجمعهمall of them ماwhat لَهاwith it
فَقالوا بِأَجمعهم ما لَها
The earth quaked with its quake.
The earth did quake and tremble
So they all said, “What is the matter with it?”
They cried out, all together, "What is with her?"
مَشىwalked ذاthis الثقيلُthe heavy fellow عَلىupon ظَهرِهاits back
مَشى ذا الثقيلُ عَلى ظَهرِها
فَأَخرَجَتso it brought forth الأَرضُthe earth أَثقالَهاits burdens
فَأَخرَجَت الأَرضُ أَثقالَها
This heavy fellow walked upon its back,
He of grace did walk upon her back
So the earth brought forth its burdens.
And so she unburdened herself of all her wearying weight
