يا موحش الإخوان عش مستأنساً
ومصاحبand a companion of التوفيقsuccess والتسديدِand right guidance
ومصاحب التوفيق والتسديدِ
O you who leave your brethren lonely, live in good company,
O companion of solitude, live in harmony
With success and right guidance as your companions.
And fellow of success and right guidance
إنif ينصرمis severed حبلthe cord of العيانdirect sight تباعداًthrough distance
إن ينصرم حبل العيان تباعداً
فالذكرthen remembrance متَّصلٌconnected بحبلto the cord of وريديmy jugular vein
فالذكر متَّصلٌ بحبل وريدي
If the cord of seeing you is severed by distance,
If the rope of companionship frays with distance
Remembrance remains bound to the cord of my jugular vein.
Then memory stays connected to my heart's cord
لمdid not أدرِI know كيفhow فراقparting جسمٍa body روحَهُits soul
لم أدرِ كيف فراق جسمٍ روحَهُ
حتىuntil وقفتُI stood أُودِّعُI bid farewell to الجاروديal-Jarudi
حتى وقفتُ أُودِّعُ الجارودي
I did not know how a body could part from its soul,
I did not know how parting a body from its soul
Until I stood bidding al-Jarudi farewell.
Until I stood to bid farewell to Al-Jaroudi
