قِسمانُtwo groups بَينَbetween رَجائِهِhope in him وَحذارِهِand fear of him
قِسمانُ بَينَ رَجائِهِ وَحذارِهِ
O king, for whom all people
O King who rules all the land
Fall into two groups, between hope in him and fear of him:
People are divided between hope and caution towards you
فَمناحso a lavish giver قَدindeed فازَwon سَهمُthe arrow طلابِهhis quest

وَمداهن قَد جالَ قَدحُ بوارِهِ
So a lavish giver, whose quest's arrow has won,
Some have had their wishes fulfilled by your arrow
And a flatterer, whose lot-arrow of ruin has been cast.
While others have seen their cups emptied by its rejection

Here is Bukhara, lamenting the pain of thirst,
And saying things sprouting from its news
And speaking words I convey on her behalf:
What would befall it if he decides to care for my land
ماذاwhat عَلَيهِupon him لَوif يَهُمُّhe sets his mind بِعرصتيon my grounds
ماذا عَلَيهِ لَو يَهُمُّ بِعرصتي
فَأَكونُso I might become بَعضَpart of بِلادِهِhis lands وَدِيارِهِand his dwellings
فَأَكونُ بَعضَ بِلادِهِ وَدِيارِهِ
What would it cost him to set his mind on my grounds,
So I become part of his country and homes
So that I might become part of his lands and dwellings?
