عَلَيكَ بِالعِلمِ فَاِدَّخِرهُ

عَلَيكَ بِالعِلمِ فَاِدَّخِرهُ

فَعِندَهُ الفَضلُ وَالكَمالُ

فَعِندَهُ الفَضلُ وَالكَمالُ

Hold fast to knowledge and store it up,

Seek knowledge and hoard it

for in it lie excellence and perfection.

For in it lie virtue and perfection

العِلمُ إِمّا اِفتَقَرتَ مالٌ

العِلمُ إِمّا اِفتَقَرتَ مالٌ

وَاِن حَوَيتَ الغِنى جَمال

وَاِن حَوَيتَ الغِنى جَمال

Knowledge is wealth if you become poor,

Knowledge will come to your aid should you lose your money

and an adornment if you possess riches.

And should you gain riches, it is an adornment
