رَأَيتُ لِبَعض الناسِ فَضلاً اِذا اِنتَمى

رَأَيتُ لِبَعض الناسِ فَضلاً اِذا اِنتَمى

يقصِّرُ عَنهُ فَضلُ عيسى بن مَريمِ

يقصِّرُ عَنهُ فَضلُ عيسى بن مَريمِ

I saw in some people, when they traced their descent, a distinction

beside which the distinction of Jesus son of Mary falls short:

عَزَوةُ الى تِسعٍ وَتِسعينَ والِداً

عَزَوةُ الى تِسعٍ وَتِسعينَ والِداً

وَلَيسَ لِعيسى والدٌ حين يَنتَمي

وَلَيسَ لِعيسى والدٌ حين يَنتَمي

a claim of descent from ninety-nine fathers,

while Jesus has no father when he traces his descent.
