فَمن كانَ يَقطِف وَرد الجِنانِ

فَقَطفِيَ مُذ كُنتُ وَرد الخُدودِ

فَقَطفِيَ مُذ كُنتُ وَرد الخُدودِ

While others pluck the roses of gardens,

my harvest has always been the roses of cheeks.

وَهَمِّيَ مُذ كُنتُ دُرُّ الثغور

وَهَمِّيَ مُذ كُنتُ دُرُّ الثغور

إِذا اِهتَمَّ غَير بِدرِّ العُقودِ

إِذا اِهتَمَّ غَير بِدرِّ العُقودِ

And my concern has always been the pearls of mouths,

while others concern themselves with the pearls of necklaces.
