عَليُّAli الىto أَعلىthe highest الجَمالbeauty تَعالىhe ascended
عَليُّ الى أَعلى الجَمال تَعالى
وَاِنand if رُمتُI sought وَصفاًa description جلَّhe was exalted عَنهُbeyond it كَمالاin perfection
وَاِن رُمتُ وَصفاً جلَّ عَنهُ كَمالا
ʿAlī rose sublime to beauty’s utmost height.
Ali has ascended to the pinnacle of beauty.
And if I seek union, he is, in his perfection, exalted far beyond it.
And if I attempt a description, he transcends it in perfection.
كَأَنَّas though ملاحَthe handsome الناسِof humankind أَضحواthey became رَعِيَّةًsubjects
كَأَنَّ ملاحَ الناسِ أَضحوا رَعِيَّةً
وَصارَand he became أَميرَthe prince العالَمينَof the worlds جَمالاin beauty
وَصارَ أَميرَ العالَمينَ جَمالا
As though the fair among mankind had become his subjects,
It is as though the handsome among humankind have become subjects,
and he had become the prince of all creation in beauty.
And he has become the prince of the worlds in beauty.
