وَلَمّاand when بَداappeared التُفّاحُthe apples أَحمَرَred مُشرِقاًradiant
وَلَمّا بَدا التُفّاحُ أَحمَرَ مُشرِقاً
دَعَوتُI called بِكَأسيfor my cup وَهيَand it was مَلأىfull منof الشَفَقthe red glow of dusk
دَعَوتُ بِكَأسي وَهيَ مَلأى من الشَفَق
And when the apples appeared, red and radiant,
When the apple appeared red and bright
I called for my cup, full of the red glow of dusk,
I called for my cup, filled with sunset glow
وَقُلتُand I said لِساقيناto our cupbearer أَدرهاpass it round فَاِنَّهاfor indeed it is
وَقُلتُ لِساقينا أَدرها فَاِنَّها
خُدودُcheeks عَذارىmaidens قَدalready جُمِعنَwere gathered عَلىon طَبَقa platter
خُدودُ عَذارى قَد جُمِعنَ عَلى طَبَق
And said to our cupbearer: Pass it round, for it is
And said to our cupbearer, pass it round
The cheeks of maidens, gathered on a platter.
For it is the cheeks of maidens gathered on a tray
