ياO فَتىyouth متويِّof Matwayy رِفقاًgently
لَستَyou are not مَنone whose يُنكَرُis questioned أَصلُهhis ancestry
O youth of Matwayy, be gentle.
O noble one, tread gently,
You are not one whose ancestry is questioned.
You are not one whose origin is denied.
اِنَّماonly يُنكَرُis faulted مِنهُin him
منfrom جُنونٍmadness فيهِwithin him ثقلُهhis tiresomeness
The only fault found in him
Rather what is denied in him,
Is his tiresomeness, born of the madness within him.
Is the heaviness of madness within him.
أَنتَyou نَذلٌa scoundrel مِنfrom كِرامٍnoble people
أَنتَyou فيin الطاووسِthe peacock رجلُهits foot
You are a scoundrel of noble stock;
You are an ignoble one from the noble,
In the peacock, you are its foot.
You are the leg of a peacock.
