سَبطَO grandson of متوىّMatwayy انَّindeed داركyour house دارٌa dwelling
سَبطَ متوىّ انَّ دارك دارٌ
قَدalready عَرَفتَyou have known الاِدبارَmisfortune اذas تبنيهاyou build it
قَد عَرَفتَ الاِدبارَ اذ تبنيها
O grandson of Matwayān, your house is a house
O grandson of Matwayy, indeed your house is a dwelling;
that has known decline even as you build it.
You have already known misfortune as you build it.
لاdo not تكثِّرoverdo تَزويقَهاits decoration وَترفَّقand proceed gently
لا تكثِّر تَزويقَها وَترفَّق
عَنafter قَليلٍa little while يَكونُwill be قَبرُكyour grave فيهاwithin it
عَن قَليلٍ يَكونُ قَبرُك فيها
Do not overdo its ornamentation; be restrained—
Do not overdo its decoration, and proceed gently;
before long, your grave will be within it.
