لاتَعِ ما جاءَك الوُشاةُ بِهِ

لاتَعِ ما جاءَك الوُشاةُ بِهِ

فَإِنَّ هذي أَخبارُ آحادِ

فَإِنَّ هذي أَخبارُ آحادِ

Do not heed what the slanderers have brought you,

Pay no heed to the slander spread about you,

for these are isolated reports.

For such tales are but hearsay from dubious sources.

وَعُد إِلى الرَسمِ في مُواصَلَتي

وَعُد إِلى الرَسمِ في مُواصَلَتي

وَاِعطِف عَلى عَبدِكَ اِبنِ عَبّادِ

وَاِعطِف عَلى عَبدِكَ اِبنِ عَبّادِ

And return to your customary practice of maintaining ties with me,

Return to writing me, do not break your correspondence,

and show kindness to your servant, Ibn ʿAbbād.
