تَحَدَّثتِspoke الرِكابُthe riding camels بِسَيرof the journey of أَروىArwa
تَحَدَّثتِ الرِكابُ بِسَير أَروى
إِلىto بَلَدٍa land حططتُI pitched بِهِin it خِياميmy tents
إِلى بَلَدٍ حططتُ بِهِ خِيامي
The riding camels spoke of Arwa’s journey
The caravan conversed of journeying
To a land where I had pitched my tents.
Toward a land where I had pitched my tents
فَكِدتُso I nearly أَطيرُfly منfrom شَوقٍlonging اِلَيهاfor her
فَكِدتُ أَطيرُ من شَوقٍ اِلَيها
بِقادمةٍwith a primary flight feather كَقادِمَةِlike the primary flight feather of الحمامِdoves
بِقادمةٍ كَقادِمَةِ الحمامِ
So I nearly took flight from longing for her,
I almost flew with yearning for that place
With a flight feather like a dove’s.
On a ship like a homing pigeon's flight
