حَمَّلتَنا بِالمَنِّ حِملاً ثَقَيل

حَمَّلتَنا بِالمَنِّ حِملاً ثَقَيل

فَحَسبُنا اللَهُ وَنِعمَ الوَكيل

فَحَسبُنا اللَهُ وَنِعمَ الوَكيل

You laid a heavy burden on us by reminding us of your favors.

You burdened us with excessive favors

So God suffices us, and He is an excellent guardian.

But Allah is sufficient for us, and an Excellent Guardian

وَقُلتَ إِنّي مُحسِنٌ مُجمِلٌ

وَقُلتَ إِنّي مُحسِنٌ مُجمِلٌ

وَلَم تَكُن مِن أَهلِ هَذا القَبيل

وَلَم تَكُن مِن أَهلِ هَذا القَبيل

And you said, “Indeed, I am benevolent and gracious,”

You claimed to be virtuous and generous

Yet you were not of this kind.

But you were not of that kind

وَإِنَّما كانَ اِتَّفاقاً جَرى

وَإِنَّما كانَ اِتَّفاقاً جَرى

وَسَوفَ أَجزيكَ بِهِ عَن قَليل

وَسَوفَ أَجزيكَ بِهِ عَن قَليل

And it was merely a chance occurrence,

It was just a coincidence

And I shall repay you for it before long.

And I will repay you before long

وَإِن أَمُت مِن قَبلِ فَوزي بِهِ

وَإِن أَمُت مِن قَبلِ فَوزي بِهِ

فَفي سَبيلِ اللَهِ خَيرُ السَبيل

فَفي سَبيلِ اللَهِ خَيرُ السَبيل

And if I die before attaining it,

And if I die beforehand, may you benefit from it

Then it is in God's path—the best of paths.

For in the cause of Allah is the best cause
