عَوَّدتَنيyou have accustomed me بِسَوابِقِthrough earlier acts of الأَلطافِkindness
أُنساًcloseness تَرومُyou seek بِبَسطِهِby extending it اِستِعطافيto win my affection
You have accustomed me, through earlier kindnesses,
You have accustomed me with your past kindness
to closeness, seeking to win my affection by extending it.
To an intimacy you seek through your generosity
فَعَلامَthen why تُعرِضُyou turn away عَنfrom جَوابيanswering me جائِراًacting unjustly
وَالجَورُand injustice ضِدَّis contrary to خَلائِقِthe character traits of الأَشرافِthe noble
Then why do you unjustly turn away from answering me,
So why do you ignore my plea unjustly?
when injustice is contrary to the character of the noble?
Injustice is contrary to noble manners.

So heal the hearts—for I have come to the brink—
So relieve these hearts, for I stand hopefully
with a reply on a written sheet that reaches me from your hands.
For an assuring response from you to find me

For surely you, whether present or far away,
For in my state, your presence and intent
have always been wont to give a healing reply.
You have continued to promise a healing response
