مَنwhoever كُنتَyou were أَنتَyou رَسولَهُhis messenger
كانَwas الجَوابُthe answer قَبولَهaccepting him
Whoever had you as his messenger,
You were his messenger
the answer was to accept him.
The answer was his acceptance
هُوَhe طَلعَةُthe rising الشَمسِof the sun الَّذيwho
جاءَcame الصَباحُthe morning دَليلَهhis herald
He is the rising sun, for whom
He is the rising sun whose
the morning came as herald.
Arrival was heralded by dawn
لَمdid not يَبدُappear وَجهُكَyour face قَبلَهُbefore him
إِلّاexcept that اِرتَقَبتُI awaited وُصولَهhis arrival
Your face never appeared ahead of him
Your face did not appear before it
without my awaiting his arrival.
Unless I awaited its arrival
فَلِذاكَso for that reason إِذwhen واجَهتَنيyou faced me
بَلِّquenched الفُؤادُthe heart غَليلَهits thirst
And so, when you stood before me,
So for that reason, when you faced me
the heart quenched its thirst.
My heart relieved its sickness
