Thus, if a builder builds dwellings
Thus if he who builds the mansions ties them,
And makes them his second work, with firmly built pillars,
And supports them with pillars erected,

He lays the foundation of glory first, so when
He has raised it, he erects dwellings second.
He has exalted it, he builds the mansions anew.

And building eminence is hard for one
And the building of the exalted is hard upon him who
Whose resolve is not firmly founded.
Has not a purpose firm in its structure.

So if the lax one attempts gaining

Let him make strong his foundation before building,
The sultan's virtues have raised it:
As virtues of the Sultan have erected it.

Adorned the sons of the climbing king, the righteous
Shams al-Din, of exalted rank.
Sun of the religion, the noble of station.
