Rise, for the hem of night has been torn from behind.
Arise, for night has folded its tail from the rear,
And the singing of gray doves has awakened the companions before dawn.
And the rustling of leaves has awakened companions at dawn.

And morning has come, calling for our morning wine,
Morning has come calling us to wake with flute and lute,
whispering in the tongue of reed flute and string.
Conversing in the tongue of reed-pipe and string.

So wake from the robes of drunkenness, and hasten to
So shake off the raiments of slumber and hasten
wine that grants relief from sorrows and cares—
To find relief from cares and thoughts that disquiet the mind.

أَضعافَ تَأثيرِ نورِ الشَمسِ وَالقَمَرِ
a wine that has affected its drinker's face
A vintage that imprinted the face of its drinker
many times as powerfully as the light of sun and moon.
With joy exceeding the sun and moon’s light combined.

بِنَشوَةٍ مِن سُلافِ الغُنجِ وَالحَوَرِ
One with drunkenly swaying limbs hastens with it, lending it
The heavyweight in drinking seeks it greedily,
a rapture drawn from the pure wine of coquetry and dark-eyed beauty.
Revived by its rapture of apple and houri.
