Repeat your reproach of him, if you wish.
Keep blaming him if you wish
For he is a lovesick lover, drunk on its heady wine.
He is morning dew that shone when the sun's heat warmed
هَزَّهُstirred him بَلrather أَزَّهُgoaded him ذِكرُremembrance of الحِمىthe sanctuary

فَتَثَنّى طَرَباً بَل رَعَشا
Remembrance of the sanctuary stirred him—nay, goaded him.
It shook him, nay it weakened him, the fever's memory
So he swayed in rapture—nay, trembled.
So he wavered enraptured, nay he shuddered

He nearly died, so I renewed for him
He nearly died but I renewed for him
Remembrance of the sanctuary's dwellers, and he revived.
The memory of the fever's lodgers so he gained strength

In my eyes you are no reproacher, but a just man.
You are not, to me, blaming but just
Remembrance gladdened him: he embroidered even as he tattled.
Happy with memories when they were brought up

A lover tried to hide his passion
But the witnesses of tears accept no bribes.
Yet the witnesses of tears do not accept bribery

As if the buyer, hopeful,
Who gained good fortune and took a bribe from the full moon.
Gained a share from the full moon he aspired to

Terror dwelt in it so it shuddered

Wandering in terror, afraid of the Eagle.
Fleeing in panic from the vulture they dreaded

Dazzling the eye with it—nay, bringing it to tears.
Dazzling sights with it, nay blinding them

So hopes are expected from his generosity
And death is feared at his onslaught.
And calamities feared from his authority

Its mornings would be like a happy night
