O you who have become rain for humankind,

And whose generosity is succor to all,

And you who, when the turns of time oppress,

    Save whoever seeks your aid.

Do you not see the flowers in their splendor,

And the dark cloud that has come and watered them?

And now our time has kept faith, though once

The cords of its promise were threadbare.

So seize the fulfillment of the nights’ promise,

Before they cause it to unravel.

And drink wine early every day,

And seek no lingering away from it,

    From Tuesday to Tuesday,

    To Tuesday, to Tuesday.
