ياO مانِحيyou who grant me مَحضَmere الوُعودِthe promises وَمانِعيand deny me
يا مانِحي مَحضَ الوُعودِ وَمانِعي
حِفظَhonoring العُهودِthe pledges وَمُجتَنىand the fruits مَعروفِهِof his kindness
حِفظَ العُهودِ وَمُجتَنى مَعروفِهِ
O you who grant me mere promises and deny me
O Granter of mere promises and Withholder
The honoring of pledges and the fruits of his kindness.
Of keeping covenants, and Evader of favors,
ليI have كُلَّevery يَومٍday مِنكَfrom you عُذرٌan excuse واضِحٌclear
لي كُلَّ يَومٍ مِنكَ عُذرٌ واضِحٌ
وَأَخافُand I fear أَنthat يُقضيit leads إِلىto تَصحيفِهِmispointing its letters
وَأَخافُ أَن يُقضي إِلى تَصحيفِهِ
Every day I have a clear excuse from you,
Each day you offer me an excuse, clear enough,
And I fear it may lead to its letters being mispointed.
But I fear it leads only to the distortion of truth.
