O lords, whose forms are forever in my sight,
and whose sweet remembrance is in my thoughts and on my lips;
وَمَنand you who لَوَif اَنَّthat صُروفَthe vicissitudes الدَهرِof time تُسعِدُنيfavor me
لَماwould not سَعَتwent نَحوَtoward مَغنىthe dwelling of غَيرِهِمanyone other than them قَدَميmy foot
and you—had the turns of time favored me,
my foot would not have gone toward anyone else's dwelling.
وَاللَهِby God لَوif عَلِمَتknew روحيmy soul بِأَنَّof the fact that لَكُمfor you

By God, if my soul knew that you had
a purpose in slaying me, I would favor you with my blood.
