أَياO رَبُّLord قَدindeed عَوَّدتَنيYou have accustomed me مِنكَfrom You نِعمَةًa blessing
أَجودُI give generously بِهاwith it لِلوافِدينَto those who come بِلاwithout مَنِّreminding others of favors
O Lord, You have accustomed me to bounty from You,
O Lord, You have accustomed me to Your grace,
which I give generously to those who come, without reminding them of my favors.
With which I generously provide for the guests,
فَأُقسِمُso I swear ماas long as دامَتremain عَطاياكَYour gifts جَمَّةًabundant
وَنُعماكَand by Your bounty لاnot خَيَّبتُI disappoint ذاone possessing الظَنِّhope بِالمَنِّby reminding others of favors
So, while Your gifts remain abundant, I swear
So I swear, as long as Your gifts remain bountiful,
by Your bounty not to disappoint the hopeful by reminding them of my favors.
And Your blessings do not fail me in this expectation,
إِذاif بَخِلَتis stingy كَفّيmy hand بِنِعمَةِwith a blessing مُنعِمٍa benefactor
فَقَدthen indeed ساءَhas grown poor فيregarding تِكرارِthe renewal أَنعُمِهِhis favors ظَنّيmy expectation
If my hand is stingy with a benefactor’s gift,
If my hands become stingy with the blessings of the Giver,
then I have doubted that he would renew his favors.
Then my hopes in His repeated favors have been ill-placed.
