وَليسَand is not كَريماًgenerous مَنone who يَجودُgives generously بِمَوعِدٍwith a promise
وَليسَ كَريماً مَن يَجودُ بِمَوعِدٍ
وَيَمطُلُand delays fulfillment حَتّىuntil يُقتَضىhe is pressed for fulfillment بِعِتابِwith reproach
وَيَمطُلُ حَتّى يُقتَضى بِعِتابِ
Nor is he generous who freely offers a promise,
The generous one is not he who promises
and stalls until pressed with reproach.
And delays until he is admonished with reproach
وَلَكِنَّهُbut he is مَنone who يُتبِعُfollows up القَولَthe words مُسرِعاًpromptly
وَلَكِنَّهُ مَن يُتبِعُ القَولَ مُسرِعاً
جَزيلَgenerous ثَوابٍreward أَوor جَميلَgracious جَوابِreply
جَزيلَ ثَوابٍ أَو جَميلَ جَوابِ
But generous is he who promptly follows his words
But he who right after speaking hastens
with a generous reward or a gracious reply.
To do a good deed or give a gracious answer
