لاNo وَالَّذيby Him who جَعَلَmade المَوَدَّةَaffection مانِعيwhat restrains me
لا وَالَّذي جَعَلَ المَوَدَّةَ مانِعي
مِنfrom أَنthat أُجازيI repay سَيِّديmy lord بِجَفائِهِwith his coldness
مِن أَن أُجازي سَيِّدي بِجَفائِهِ
No, by Him who made affection hold me back
No! By Him who made affection a barrier
from repaying my lord with his own coldness.
Against repaying my master with his coldness -
ماnot حَلَّتِloosened الأَيّامُthe days موثَقَthe bond of حُبِّهِhis love
ما حَلَّتِ الأَيّامُ موثَقَ حُبِّهِ
عِنديwithin me وَلاnor حالَتchanged عُهودُthe pledges of وَفائِهِhis faithfulness
عِندي وَلا حالَت عُهودُ وَفائِهِ
The days have not loosened the bond of his love
The days have not loosened his loving pledge
within me, nor have his pledges of faithfulness changed.
That lives in my heart, nor his troth of faithfulness.
وَدَليلُand the guide of قَلبيmy heart قَلبُهُhis heart فَوِدادُهُso its affection
وَدَليلُ قَلبي قَلبُهُ فَوِدادُهُ
كَوِدادِهِlike his affection وَصَفاؤُهُand its purity كَصَفائِهِlike his purity
كَوِدادِهِ وَصَفاؤُهُ كَصَفائِهِ
And his heart is my heart's guide, so my heart's affection
My heart's evidence is his; its love is his love,
is like his affection, and its purity like his purity.
Its purity his, its affection his affection.
