لاdo not تَستَدِلَّseek evidence عَلىof تَغَيُّرِa change in صاحِبٍa friend
لا تَستَدِلَّ عَلى تَغَيُّرِ صاحِبٍ
وَزَوالِand the end of صُحبَتِهِhis companionship وَخَفرِand the breach of ذِمامِهِhis pledge
وَزَوالِ صُحبَتِهِ وَخَفرِ ذِمامِهِ
Never seek evidence of a friend's change of heart,
Do not judge a friend's change of heart
the end of his companionship, and the breach of his pledge,
Nor end of fellowship or slackening of zeal
يَوماًever بِأَوضَحَby anything clearer مِنthan تَجَهُّمِthe scowling of وَجهِهِhis face
يَوماً بِأَوضَحَ مِن تَجَهُّمِ وَجهِهِ
وَجَفاءِand the harshness of مَنطِقِهِhis speech وَسُخطِand the displeasure of غُلامِهِhis servant
وَجَفاءِ مَنطِقِهِ وَسُخطِ غُلامِهِ
clearer than the scowl on his face,
One day by clearer signs than sullen looks
the harshness of his speech, and his servant's displeasure.
