شَوقيmy longing إِلَيكُمfor you وَالدِيارُwhile the dwellings قَريبَةٌare near
شَوقي إِلَيكُم وَالدِيارُ قَريبَةٌ
إِنif قُلتُI say زالَit has faded مَعَwith التَقَرُّبِdrawing closer عاداit returns
إِن قُلتُ زالَ مَعَ التَقَرُّبِ عادا
My longing for you, though the dwellings are near—
If I say it has faded with drawing closer, it returns.
دَنَتِhave drawn near الدِيارُthe dwellings بِكُمwith you وَعَزَّand became difficult مَزارُكُمvisiting you
دَنَتِ الدِيارُ بِكُم وَعَزَّ مَزارُكُم
حَتّىuntil تَوَهَّمتُI imagined الدُنُوِّnearness بُعاداdistance
حَتّى تَوَهَّمتُ الدُنُوِّ بُعادا
The dwellings have drawn near with you in them, yet visiting you is hard,
Until I imagine nearness to be distance.
