دِ لِيَبلو عَلى الصِدودِ جِناني
My beloved swore to go to extremes in turning away
to test my heart against his rejection.
بَرَّhe kept his oath فيin حَلفِهِhis oath فَياso, oh لَيتَهُwould that he كاwere (word continues)
بَرَّ في حَلفِهِ فَيا لَيتَهُ كا
نَcompletes “were” وَلَوeven if مِنwith دَميmy blood خَضيبَdyed البَنانِthe fingertips
نَ وَلَو مِن دَمي خَضيبَ البَنانِ
He kept his oath; oh, would that his fingertips were
dyed, even with my blood.
