إِنَّindeed الصَديقَthe friend إِذاwhen رَأَكَhe sees you مُخالِفاًopposed
إِنَّ الصَديقَ إِذا رَأَكَ مُخالِفاً
لِهَواهُto his wishes بَدِّلَhe replaces وِدَّهُhis affection بِعُقوقِwith ill-treatment
لِهَواهُ بَدِّلَ وِدَّهُ بِعُقوقِ
Indeed, when a friend sees you opposed
When a friend sees you disagree
to his wishes, he replaces his affection with ill-treatment.
With what he wants, his love will cease.
فَاِخفِضso lower جَناحَكَyour wing لِلصَديقِto the friend مُتابِعاًconforming
فَاِخفِض جَناحَكَ لِلصَديقِ مُتابِعاً
لِهَوائِهِto his wishes أَوor عِشlive بِغَيرِwithout صَديقِa friend
لِهَوائِهِ أَو عِش بِغَيرِ صَديقِ
So lower your wing to your friend, conforming
So either humor his desire
to his wishes, or live without a friend.
Or live your life without his fire.
