لَوif غَداwent forth أَنفَكَyour nose العَظيمُenormous غَداtomorrow وَهwhile it (continued into the next line)
لَو غَدا أَنفَكَ العَظيمُ غَدا وَه
وَcompletion of “it” from the preceding line وَقودٌfuel لِلنارِfor the fire ذاتِpossessing الوَقودِfuel
وَ وَقودٌ لِلنارِ ذاتِ الوَقودِ
If tomorrow your enormous nose went forth,
Were your sublime nose made of wax
as fuel for the fire abounding in fuel,
It would melt from the heat of your inner blaze
ثُمَّthen قالواthey said هَلّاare you not? اِمتَلَأتَyou have become full لَقالَتit would say
ثُمَّ قالوا هَلّا اِمتَلَأتَ لَقالَت

هُوَ حَسبي وَلَم تُرِد مِن مَزيدِ
and they then asked, “Are you not full?” it would say,
And were you asked, “Why not fill yourself?”
“It is enough for me,” and would desire no more.
You would say, “I need no more than I already have.”
