I have a wine in the purse, not in the cup.

I grow drunk from tasting it or smelling it.

The text of the Qur’an has not forbidden it, nor

has there been consensus in religious law to condemn it.

Its benefit is evident; it brings elation

that rescues souls from their distress.

So gratitude for it is greater than its intoxication,

and its benefit is greater than its sin.
