هَنيئاًfelicitations بِشَهرِon the month of الصومِfasting لِلمَلِكِto the king الَّذيwho
هَنيئاً بِشَهرِ الصومِ لِلمَلِكِ الَّذي
لَهُhe has نِعَمٌfavors مَعروفُهاtheir goodness لَيسَis not يُنكَرُdenied
لَهُ نِعَمٌ مَعروفُها لَيسَ يُنكَرُ
Felicitations on the month of fasting to the king who
Congratulations on the fasting month, for the king
has favors whose goodness cannot be denied.
Whose favors are well-known, none can deny
فَمٌa mouth عَنfrom أَحاديثِtalk of المَحارِمِforbidden things صائِمٌfasting
فَمٌ عَن أَحاديثِ المَحارِمِ صائِمٌ
وَكَفٌّand a hand بِإِسداءِby bestowing المَكارِمِnoble favors مُفطِرُbreaking the fast
وَكَفٌّ بِإِسداءِ المَكارِمِ مُفطِرُ
A mouth that fasts from talk of forbidden things,
A mouth abstaining from forbidden talk while fasting
and a hand that breaks its fast by bestowing noble favors.
And a hand giving generously to break the fast
يُسافِرُtravels مِنهِfrom him الذِكرُrenown وَهوَand it is مُتَمَّمٌmade complete
يُسافِرُ مِنهِ الذِكرُ وَهوَ مُتَمَّمٌ
وَكُلُّand every مُقيمٍone who stays فيin الثَناءِpraise مُقَصِّرُfalling short
وَكُلُّ مُقيمٍ في الثَناءِ مُقَصِّرُ
His renown travels forth from him, yet is complete,
Remembrance travels from him while he is steadfast
and everyone who stays falls short in praise.
And all who stay to praise him fall short
وَأَعجَبُand I marvel مِنat صَومِthe fasting of الأَنامِthe people بِرَبعِهِin his abode
وَأَعجَبُ مِن صَومِ الأَنامِ بِرَبعِهِ
وَقَدand already غَمَرَتهُمhave engulfed them مِنfrom أَياديهِhis favors أَبحُرُseas
وَقَد غَمَرَتهُم مِن أَياديهِ أَبحُرُ
And I marvel at the people's fasting in his abode,
More amazing than people fasting for a month
when seas of his bounty have engulfed them.
Is that vast oceans have flooded from his hands
