راتِعاً في رِياضِ عَينِ البُرودِ
You two, let me trail the flowing hems of my robes,
Let me trail the hems of my striped cloaks,
roaming at ease through the gardens of ʿAyn al-Burūd.
Reveling in the gardens of ʿAyn al-Burūd.
كَمhow many بِهاin it مِنof بَديعِwondrous زَهرٍblossoms أَنيقٍlovely

كَفُصولٍlike passages مَنظومَةٍarranged وَعُقودِand necklaces
كَفُصولٍ مَنظومَةٍ وَعُقودِ
How many exquisite and lovely blossoms it holds,
How many wondrous, lovely blossoms are there,
like passages composed and necklaces strung!
Like well-ordered passages and necklaces:

وَأَقاحٍ وَنَرجِسٍ وَوُرودِ
A lily among sprays of myrtle and slender ben tree,
Lilies among sprigs of myrtle and ben trees,
and daisies, narcissi, and roses—
And daisies, and narcissi, and roses,
كَجَبينٍlike a brow وَعارِضٍand a bearded cheek وَقَوامٍand a graceful form

وَثُغورٍ وَأَعيُنٍ وَخُدودِ
like a brow, a cheek, and a graceful form,
Like a brow, a bearded cheek, a graceful form,
and smiling mouths, eyes, and cheeks.
And mouths, and eyes, and cheeks.
