أَتُكَرِّمُنيdo you honor me سِرّاًin secret وَتَثلِمُنيand disparage me جَهراًopenly
أَتُكَرِّمُني سِرّاً وَتَثلِمُني جَهراً
لَعَمرُكَby your life هَذاthis حالُthe way of مَنone who أَضمَرَharbored الغَدرَtreachery
لَعَمرُكَ هَذا حالُ مَن أَضمَرَ الغَدرَ
Do you honor me in secret and disparage me openly?
By your life, this is the way of one who harbors treachery.
فَهَلاًthen why not عَكَستَyou reversed الحالَthe situation أَوor كُنتَyou were جاعِلاًmaking
فَهَلاً عَكَستَ الحالَ أَو كُنتَ جاعِلاً
بَعَدلِكَin your fairness إِحدىone of الحالَتَينِthe two treatments كَماjust like الأُخرىthe other
بَعَدلِكَ إِحدى الحالَتَينِ كَما الأُخرى
Then why not reverse the situation, or make
One treatment, in your fairness, the same as the other?
