They were humbled before us after excessive pride,
and yielded to the lovers in abasement.
وأصبحواand they became منfrom غيرother than حجa pilgrimage موجبrequiring it
وأصبحوا من غير حج موجب
محلقينshaving their heads ومقصريناand trimming their hair
محلقين ومقصرينا
And, with no pilgrimage to require it, they became
shaven-headed and close-cropped.
