اَعجَب لِنَرجِسِنا المُضَعَّفِ أَن نَمَت
أَوراقُهُits leaves وَتَفَتَّحَتand opened أَزهارُهits blossoms
أَوراقُهُ وَتَفَتَّحَت أَزهارُه
Marvel at our double-flowered narcissus, which has grown
its leaves and opened its blossoms.
يَحكيresembles نَضيجَcooked البَيضِeggs قُدَّwas split بِمِديَةٍwith a knife
يَحكي نَضيجَ البَيضِ قُدَّ بِمِديَةٍ
كانَتwas فَبَثَّthen scattered عَلىover البَياضِthe white صَفارَهits yolk
كانَت فَبَثَّ عَلى البَياضِ صَفارَه
It resembles a cooked egg, split with a knife
that was there; it then scattered its yolk over the white.
