لاdo not تَعجَبَنَّbe surprised إِذاwhen أَتواthey come بِنَميمَةٍwith malicious gossip
لا تَعجَبَنَّ إِذا أَتوا بِنَميمَةٍ
فيناabout us وَإِنand even if عَذَلواthey reproach عَليكَyou وَلامواand blame
فينا وَإِن عَذَلوا عَليكَ وَلاموا
Do not be surprised when they bring malicious gossip
Wonder not if they pass on calumny about us
About us, even if they reproach and blame you.
Though they blame and reproach you
مَنwhoever كانَwas نِسبَةُaffinity حُسنِbeauty يوسُفَJoseph حُسنَهَhis beauty
مَن كانَ نِسبَةُ حُسنِ يوسُفَ حُسنَهَ
فَلِذاكَso, for that reason يَكثُرُabound حَولَهُaround him النُمّامُthe tale-bearers
فَلِذاكَ يَكثُرُ حَولَهُ النُمّامُ
He whose beauty is akin to Joseph’s beauty—
He who is of the lineage of Joseph’s beauty
For that reason, tale-bearers abound around him.
Will have many detractors swarming around him
