لا تَجزَعَنَّ إِذا اِرتاعوا لِرائِحَةٍ
بِفيكَin your mouth لَيسَis not لَهاfor it فيin الحُسنِbeauty مِنany (emphatic) أَثَرِeffect
بِفيكَ لَيسَ لَها في الحُسنِ مِن أَثَرِ
Do not be dismayed if they recoil at an odor
Do not worry when they recoil at your scent
In your mouth—it has no effect on beauty.
For it has no effect on your beauty
لِلكَلبِfor the dog وَالضَبِّand the spiny-tailed lizard أَفواهٌmouths مُعَطَّرَةٌperfumed
لِلكَلبِ وَالضَبِّ أَفواهٌ مُعَطَّرَةٌ
وَاللَيثُand the lion وَالصَقرُand the falcon مَوصوفانِboth described بِالبَخَرِwith foul breath
وَاللَيثُ وَالصَقرُ مَوصوفانِ بِالبَخَرِ
The dog and the spiny-tailed lizard have perfumed mouths,
Dogs and hyenas have fragrant mouths
And the lion and the falcon are described as having foul breath.
Yet the lion and falcon are known for their stench
