Patience is our duty when your delay grows long,
And our aim is that your breast should not feel constricted.

And we are in no haste to reproach,
When fulfillment lags or an excuse comes swiftly.

But we shall forget what you promised; perhaps
Its memory will one day pass through your thoughts.

And if death's herald prevents its fulfillment,
Then may the All-Merciful have no mercy on the one the grave enfolds.
