أَتَطلُبُ مِن أَخٍ خُلُقاً جَليلاً

أَتَطلُبُ مِن أَخٍ خُلُقاً جَليلاً

وَخَلقُ الناسِ مِن ماءٍ مَهينِ

وَخَلقُ الناسِ مِن ماءٍ مَهينِ

Do you seek noble character in a brother,

when humankind was created from lowly water?

فَسامِح أَن تُكَدَّرَ وُدَّ خِلٍّ

فَسامِح أَن تُكَدَّرَ وُدَّ خِلٍّ

فَإِنَّ المَرءَ مِن ماءٍ وَطينِ

فَإِنَّ المَرءَ مِن ماءٍ وَطينِ

So forgive the clouding of a close friend's affection,

for man is made of water and clay.
