شَكَرَتكَ عَنّي شارِداتُ قَصائِدٍ
بِصَنائِعٍwith artistry فاهَتvoiced بِشُكرِthanks for صَنائِعِfavors
بِصَنائِعٍ فاهَت بِشُكرِ صَنائِعِ
Far-ranging poems have thanked you on my behalf,
With artistry that voiced thanks for your favors.
تَنفيbanish الحُداةُthe camel-drivers بِهاwith them عَنِfrom الجَفنِthe eyelid الكَرىslumber
تَنفي الحُداةُ بِها عَنِ الجَفنِ الكَرى
وَتَخيطُand stitch shut مِنfrom طَرَبٍrapture جُفونَeyelids of السامِعِthe listener
وَتَخيطُ مِن طَرَبٍ جُفونَ السامِعِ
With them, the camel-drivers banish slumber from the eyelid,
And the poems stitch the listener’s eyelids shut with rapture.
