تَأَمَّل إِذا ما كَتَبتَ الكِتابَ

تَأَمَّل إِذا ما كَتَبتَ الكِتابَ

سُطورَكَ مِن بَعدِ إِحكامِها

سُطورَكَ مِن بَعدِ إِحكامِها

Examine, whenever you have written the letter,

Contemplate, when you write your book

your lines after perfecting them.

وَهَذِّب عِبارَةَ طَرزِ الكَلامِ

وَهَذِّب عِبارَةَ طَرزِ الكَلامِ

وَاِستَوفِ سائِرَ أَقسامِها

وَاِستَوفِ سائِرَ أَقسامِها

And polish the phrasing of your manner of speech,

And refine the phrasing, genres of speech

and fully cover all its parts.

And fulfill all its divisions

فَقَد قيلَ إِنَّ عُقولَ الرِجال

فَقَد قيلَ إِنَّ عُقولَ الرِجال

لِ تَحتَ أَلسِنَةِ أَقلامِها

لِ تَحتَ أَلسِنَةِ أَقلامِها

For it has been said that the minds of men

For it has been said that men’s intellects

are indeed beneath the tongues of their pens.
