  1. لا أوحش الله ممن حل في خلدي

    فليس يؤنسني إلا تذكره

    May God never leave me bereft of him who dwells in my thoughts—

    for nothing comforts me but remembering him—

  2. ومن تباعد عن عيني فلو نظرت

    إليه كادت لفرط البعد تنكره

    and who has grown distant from my eye: were it to look

    at him, it would almost fail to recognize him, so great is the distance.
