وَاللَهِby God ماnot شانَتكَmarred you حَليَةُthe adornment of لِحيَةٍa beard
بَلrather نَزَّهَتكَit elevated you عَنِbeyond القِياسِcomparison بِأَمرَدِwith a beardless youth
By God, the adornment of a beard has not marred you;
Rather, it has raised you above comparison with a beardless youth.
وَبَداand appeared بِخَدَّيكَupon your two cheeks السُوادُblackness فَزانَهاand so adorned it
مِثلُlike المَليحَةِthe lovely woman فيin الخِماءِthe veil (apparently intended: الخمار) الأَسوَدblack
And blackness appeared upon your cheeks, adorning your beard,
Like a lovely woman in a black veil.
