ياO رَبِّmy Lord ذَنبيmy sin عَظيمُgreat
وَأَنتَand You عَنّيtoward me حَليمُforbearing
O my Lord, my sin is great,
and You are forbearing toward me.
بَلrather عَزَّنيhas strengthened me مِنكَfrom You وَعدٌa promise
لَهُfor it الأَنامُhumankind تَرومُyearns
Rather, a promise from You has strengthened me,
one for which all humankind yearns:
إِذwhen قُلتَYou said فيin الذِكرِthe Remembrance لِلمُصto al-Mus- (beginning of al-Mustafa)
طَفى-tafa (completing al-Mustafa, the Chosen One) وَأَنتَand You كَريمُgenerous
when You said in the Remembrance to al-Mus-
tafa—and You are generous—
نَبِّئtell عِباديMy servants أَنّيthat I
أَناI الغَفورُthe All-Forgiving الرَحيمُthe Merciful
“Tell My servants that I
am indeed the All-Forgiving, the Merciful.”
