بِشَمسِwith Shams الدينِal-Din لَمnot تُطِقِcould endure الرَعاياthe subjects
بِشَمسِ الدينِ لَم تُطِقِ الرَعايا
فَكيفَso how وَقَدand already تَبَدَّلَhe was replaced بِالنَجيبِby al-Najib
فَكيفَ وَقَد تَبَدَّلَ بِالنَجيبِ
The subjects could not bear Shams al-Din;
With the sun of religion, the subjects could not bear
how, then, now that he has been replaced by al-Najib?
So how could they when it was replaced by the noble one
رَعاياsubjects ماnot أَطاقواthey could withstand بَأسَthe might of كَبشٍa ram
رَعايا ما أَطاقوا بَأسَ كَبشٍ
مُحالٌimpossible أَنthat يُطيقواthey could withstand بَأسَthe might of ذِئبِa wolf
مُحالٌ أَن يُطيقوا بَأسَ ذِئبِ
Subjects who could not withstand a ram’s might—
The subjects could not withstand the might of a ram
it is impossible for them to withstand a wolf’s might.
It is impossible they withstand the might of a wolf
